On 14th May 2025 a workshop titled “The Inner Development Goals and the IDG Water Network – Building a Water-Sensitive Society by Integrating Inner Development Methods into Creating Sustainable Water Systems” was held by Kristin Peters from the IDG Water Network as part of the Sustainability Days 2025 at Kiel University. The session was attended by 12 participants and focused on introducing the concept of the Inner Development Goals and their application within the context of water sustainability.

The workshop opened with mindfulness practice, to remind us of the importance of water for all life on earth. We started with an overview of the IDG Water Network, outlining its mission to support the transformation of water systems through inner development practices. Followed by the background and structure of the IDGs, emphasizing the personal and collective inner capacities necessary to tackle complex global challenges like the climate, biodiversity, and water crisis.

The participants engaged afterwards in a dialogue session, exploring how their individual mindset can influence sustainable use of water. The workshop emphasized the importance of inner work, such as empathy, perspective-taking, and collaboration, in building a water-sensitive society.
